St Martin's regularly hosts concerts and has fantastic facilities for anyone looking for a venue in the local area. Some of our frequent clients include Epsom Chamber Choir, Epsom Choral Society, Ashtead Choral Society, London Welsh Male Voice Choir as well as smaller Recital Series'.  For more information about booking St Martin of Tours as a concert venue, contact Gina Ciesco in the Parish Office.

St Martin's contains two pianos, one grand piano: Kwai RX5 and one upright piano: Challen by W H Barnes. The Kwai is available to hire for a modest fee for concerts including professional tuning. There is also a superb organ. Depending on the size of ensemble, and therefore how many seats we take out, the church can hold up to 450 audience members.

Flexible Space

One of St Martin's great assets as a concert venue is its flexible space. There is a small stage area known as the Dais which has removable rails around it, so can be used for smaller recitals, or can be a helpful platform for staging choirs. We own a few blocks of staging, but a larger quantity is owned by Epsom Choral Society, who store it in the Church and are willing to hire it out. Ask Gina for more details.

The front 150 or so seats are free-standing, removable and comfortable chairs. Any number of these can be turned around for a choir or orchestra to sit on, or if you require a much larger performance space, all of them can be removed, as shown in the picture.

Should you have something more creative in mind, there are also choir stalls seating maximum 45 people between the dais and the high altar, a Lady Chapel seating maximum 45 people to the left of the dais, and a small curtained-off chapel to the right of the dais.

Church Bar

St Martin's has a lot of facilities that make it an ideal concert venue. In terms of changing rooms/backstage we have two vestries leading into the performance space that can hold around 30 people between them. There is a toilet for each vestry. For larger ensembles you could hire Church House, which is just a few steps across the car park and contains several rooms of different sizes and more toilet facilities.

We can also advise on the best interval arrangements for your audience. We have a bar area with running water at the back of the church, pictured opposite, for serving refreshments. This provides ample space for a smaller audience. We also have tables we can lay out if necessary. There is a single disabled-friendly toilet at the back of the church. For a larger audience, we would suggest you also book Church House, where there are a kitchen, kitchenette, several toilets and a large gathering space upstairs.

Disabled access to the church is via the North Side door, approached from Grove Road. There is also a loop system for hearing aids.

Have a look at the Church Diary to spot any upcoming concerts.
